Ranking my Dylan Albums
So I’m going to be ranking all of the Dylan albums that I own. Starting with ‘the freewheelin’ Bob Dylan’ :)
So I’m in the Isle of Wight and we are renting a house in Yarmouth on the North Coast. While exploring the house, I came across something pretty special in the downstairs bathroom. It’s an original ticket stub from the 1969 Isle of Wight Festival, where Bob Dylan headlined with the band :D It was Bob’s first big time concert since he crashed his motorcycle in 1966. I found some other cool stuff too that I will post aswell :)
Bob and Johnny Cash in 1966 :)
Compilation Disc
So over the past few days, I have devoted some time to creating a couple of Dylan discs for My mum to play in the car. She’s been exposed to a bit of Bob’s stuff before, and knows the more famous hits like Blowin’ in the Wind and Like s Rolling Stone. She’s also sat through ‘Don’t Look Back’ and ‘No Direction Home’ with me (mainly because I forced her into it) :P Nonetheless, she is keen to explore some more of his stuff. So being the delightful son I am I have put together 31 songs on two discs to get her going.
Tell me what you guys think of the choices I’ve made or if I could improve it for her :)
Disc 1:
1. Song to Woody
2. Let Me Die in My Footsteps
3. Oxford town
4. Like a Rolling Stone
5. All I Really Want To Do
6. Talkin’ Bear Mountain Picnic Blues
7. Mr Tambourine Man

Personally I think this is a nice little collection, with a few live versions thrown in. It’s pretty close to what I would choose if I was making a greatest hits album, but not quite. Give me your thoughts because I might still change it :)
Happy Birthday Paul Mcartney :) Please Retweet and Reblog. Thanks!
I've been obsessed with Nashville Skyline lately. Is the lineup on that album still The Band or did he hire Nashville musicians. And if so, who? I'm pretty convinced just from listening that at least Robbie and Garth are on there, but I'm not 100%. Thanks.
Thanks for the question. Like you, I am a massive fan of Nashville Skyline. In my opinion, it has to be one of Bob’s top 10 albums, perhaps even top 5. I believe the lineup does not consist of any of ‘The Band’ members, which is quite suprising considering they were still playing a lot of music together at this time. The musicians involved on this album according to bobdylan.com are Kenny Buttrey, Charles McCoy, Pete Drake, Norman Blake, Charlie Daniels and Bob Wilson and of course guest artist, Johnny Cash. I haven’t actually researched much into this period of Bob’s music yet but I do intend to at some stage. It is fascinating to me how much Dylan managed to change his public image and music between ’67 - ‘69, going from full on Rock n Roll, the long hair, high octane lifestyle that we associate with the mid sixties Dylan into a man living in suclusion, away from the public eye and singing what was essentially Country music. Hope this helped. Anymore questions you have, feel free to ask anytime :)
Look what arrived in the post :D anyone have this set?
